You can be the person who fixes that for them, and build something real for your own applications while you do it.

Open to students in grades 9–12 across Union & Mecklenburg (NC) and York & Lancaster (SC). Under 18? A parent or guardian co-signs before anything starts.

A shot at our scholarship

College Shortlist funds an open scholarship, awarded on what you write and where you're headed — not on how many people you refer. Ambassadors can apply; so can other students. We'll show you how to enter.

"Founding Ambassador, College Shortlist" — a real role with real responsibility, started in its first year. It shows initiative and real responsibility — not just one more line in the activities section.

What we're not going to pretend

The scholarship is real, but it isn't a payout for referrals and there's no dollar figure to promise — it's a competitive, education-based award funded by College Shortlist, with the details being finalised with counsel. What we do promise in writing up front is the free premium access and the credential.

How it works

Four steps. The whole thing takes about ten minutes to start.

    Apply

    Tell us your school, your grade, where you post, and why you'd be good at this. No account needed.

  2. 2

    A parent co-signs

    If you're under 18, your parent or guardian gets a one-click approval email. Nothing activates until they say yes. If you're 18+, you sign for yourself.

    Share your link

    You get your own link and QR code. Post honestly, in your own voice, and always mark it as an ad — we'll show you exactly how.

  4. 4

    Represent it well

    Help families, keep it honest, and build a track record you can point to — on your applications, and if you choose to apply for our scholarship.

What's expected of you

The short version. You'll get the full terms before you start — and if you're under 18, so will your parent or guardian.

  • Use it for real. It's your own college search first.
  • Share authentically. Post in your own voice, regularly — a real post beats an ad.
  • Always disclose. Every time you promote it — a post, DM, group chat, or in person — you say #ad or "I'm a College Shortlist Ambassador."
  • Keep it honest and school-appropriate. Real numbers only, no pressure tactics.
  • Answer the occasional check-in from our team.

Each school has a limited number of ambassador spots, split between underclassmen (9–10) and upperclassmen (11–12). If your grade's spots are full, you go on the waitlist for that band — we don't turn applications away.

Reasonable first reaction: a company is asking my kid to sell something to their friends. Here is exactly how this is set up, and what we will and won't do.

You approve before anything starts

If your student is under 18, nothing activates until you click approve in an email we send you. No link, no tools, no participation before that. It's a blocking gate, not a notification.

No cash goes to a minor

The ambassador role pays no money — it's free access to the app and a credential. Our scholarship is separate: if your student applies and wins, any award is education-directed and routed to you as the parent or guardian, toward their education — not spendable pocket money.

They never touch anyone's data

Ambassadors share a link. That is the entire mechanism. They can't see who signed up, and they never handle another family's information.

Disclosure is required and taught

Every time they promote it — a post, Story, DM, group chat, or in person — they have to disclose the relationship: #ad, plainly. The obligation follows them, not the platform. We give them the exact language and train them on it. Honest claims are a condition of the program; overstating results — money found, awards won — is grounds for removal.

No quotas, no pressure tactics

There's no sales target and nothing to hit. Spamming or pressuring people is explicitly against the code of conduct and gets an ambassador removed. If your student wants to stop, they stop.

Where this still stands

The parent agreement, program terms, and the tax treatment of the awards are going through a legal review before any broad launch. We're running the founding cohort small and by invitation until that's done. You'll get the finished agreement to read before your student is activated — and none of this is tax advice.

"No" won't disqualify you, but ambassadors do need to actually use it before they're activated. You can't recommend what you don't know.
